Corded Stays: An exercise in patience.

I'm revisiting the Mantua Maker stays to create corded stays to wear with my 1840's dresses. This for sure are going to take me a long time to finish but I'm positive they will be well worth it.

The stays will be completely hand sewn. And I'm using twill for the outer layer, cotton duck on the inner layer and the lining is a cotton broadcloth.

I'm anticipating adding some quilting across the bottom for added stability.

I've done some other hand sewing recently and added a chemisette and cuffs to the green 1845 dress.

The cording on the corset looks already very promising :) Looking forward to seeing the finished hand-sewn garment. I love handsewn cording channels, they do look so pretty!

It's good to know I'm not the only one who gets a little tickled by that. :) Thanks for the feedback!
